History
In October 1988 the present director/owner John Laurijsen had a plan to become self-employed and to start selling and reconditioning Atoma linear automatic weighing machines – while other companies around him stopped building and selling these machines. On 12th January 1989 he established the company Weegservice Benelux, which was started in an old shed behind his parental home at the Vaartweg in Dongen-Vaart. This workshop was abandoned after the zoning plan was changed. In February 1991 a building was rented in a business park at the Sint Josephstraat in Dongen. In In February 1992 the Chamber of Commerce in Waalwijk declared that the company name Weegservice Benelux could no longer be used, since a previously established company already had the same name.
At that point the company name was changed into the current name: Laurijsen WeegAutomaten Dongen B.V. also known as LWA. Because of the increase in stock, personnel and orders, the building at the St. Josephstraat soon became too small. Therefore, in June 1994 a company building with an office and private house was purchased at the Klein Dongenseweg in Dongen. Since we had to purchase more and more mechanical parts such as frames, vibrators and hoppers, we gradually started to buy metalworking machines, including a turning machine, milling machine, snips and folding machine. As orders from third parties increased, we decided to turn the metal department into a separate company and on 1st August 1997 the in-house assembly company Metritech B.V. was established.
As any other technician, our managing director wanted us to build our own weighing machine. Mechanically, all required parts were already available and as soon as a suitable control system was found, we started to build our first weighing machine and sold it under the brand name Newweigh®. As a result, on 10th January 2000 the company Newweigh B.V. was established, which sold these new linear automatic weighing machines. Because of this expansion, our company building at the Klein Dongenseweg became too small, so in March 2000 we moved into our current building at De Leest in Dongen. In 2001 an addition to this building was made. We now dispose of 900 m2 working space and 200 m2 offices.
On 11th April 2002 Laurijsen Weegautomaten Dongen B.V., Metritech B.V. and Newweigh B.V. received the ISO 9001-2000 certification. By the end of 2002 Laurijsen Weegautomaten Dongen B.V. had reached the milestone of selling its 500th used / reconditioned weighing head!
Newweigh B.V. continued to build more and more new weighing machines and therefore we decided to develop our own weighing control system. This system received the OIML R 61 authorisation on 7th December 2005 – which means it can be used according to all European gauging offices and authorisation authorities.
Although John Laurijsen had always vowed not to produce any multihead weighers, several multihead producers appealed to the experience, reputation and service of the Laurijsen group. Therefore, multihead weighers (combination weighers) were included in our product range as from the middle of 2006. These machines are produced in Asia and after a few improvements for the European market, they are sold and installed under our private brand Combimat®.
Our wide range of new and used automatic weighing machines in many different versions, together with Metritech peripheral equipment, offers the right weighing solution with the best price / quality ratio for hundreds of satisfied customers! |
